About TTRA

The Travel and Tourism Research Association -TTRA is a leading international network of over 800 professional in tourism and travel research and marketing. Founded in 1970, the organization and its members have been to the forefront of the development and application of travel and tourism related marketing information and research. TTRAs membership in over 20 countries worldwide includes both practitioners and educators offering unique networking opportunities.

TTRA Europe

Objectives

The objective of the European Chapter of Travel and Tourism Research Association is to create forums for the exchange of ideas and knowledge between tourism researchers and the tourism industry.

Tourism will be the term used as an umbrella for travel, tourism, recreation and leisure industries.

The aims of the association are also:

  • to increase the quality, volume and efficiency of tourism research
  • to increase the understanding and the knowledge of tourism research within the industry
  • to increase the understanding and knowledge of tourism industries among tourism researchers
  • to contribute to the collection and dissemination of knowledge about tourism to researchers, industries, politicians and the educational system.

The chapter includes all European countries. TTRA Europe brings together practioners and academics throughout Europe to an extensive network which is linked to the worldwide network of the TTRA.

TTRA Europe aims at making use of the multi-national, multi-linguistic and multi-cultural composition of its European membership. These specific European aspects of the chapter as such offer endless challenges for research into European tourism, as well as for research into relations between Europe and the rest of the world. Furthermore, TTRA Europe encourages enhanced co-operation between professionals involved in tourism research.

The secretariat is placed at Dalarna University in Sweden, Solveig Boehn, Executive and Treasurer.
